Living With a Missing Tooth Isn't Easy

We hear it all the time from patients who’ve lived with a gap for months or even years. A single missing tooth changes more than your smile; it affects how you eat, how you feel, and how freely you engage with the people around you. The good news is that this is fixable.
  • Chewing on only one side of your mouth
  • Hiding your smile in photos
  • Feeling older than you actually are
  • Avoiding certain foods you used to love
  • Watching nearby teeth shift over time
  • Talking around a gap you're aware of
  • Recognizing yourself in this list is the first step. A single tooth implant can restore what's missing and give you back the everyday moments you've been working around.

    Waiting Only Makes It Harder

  • Bone begins to shrink

The jawbone where your tooth was slowly loses density once it's no longer stimulated.

  • Nearby teeth drift

Surrounding teeth gradually lean into the empty space and shift out of place.

  • Treatment grows complex

A simple implant can turn into grafting and extra steps the longer you wait.

  • Bite changes over time

Your teeth meet differently, straining your jaw and other teeth. Costs climb higher: More involved treatment later means a bigger investment down the road.

  • Confidence keeps slipping

Every month with a gap makes hiding your smile feel more automatic.

  • Acting sooner keeps your treatment simpler and your results stronger.

What Is a Single Tooth Implant?

A single tooth implant is a permanent tooth replacement that fills the space left by one missing tooth. It has three parts: a small titanium post that fuses naturally with your jawbone over time, a connector piece, and a custom crown that sits on top. Together, they function and look just like a natural tooth, sitting securely in place without affecting the healthy teeth beside it.

At Liberty Dentistry, we plan each single tooth implant with 3D imaging and intraoral scanners, which let us create a detailed model of your mouth for precise, personalized placement. For patients considering single tooth implants in Liberty, NC, this technology means a treatment mapped specifically to your anatomy rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

  • Titanium post fuses with the jawbone over months
  • Custom crown matches your surrounding teeth
  • Designed to last decades with proper care
  • Transformations That Last

Watch real patients share how their dental journey restored not just their smiles, but their quality of life. These personal stories capture the relief and joy that come with comprehensive, caring treatment.

Are Single Tooth Implants Right for You?

Many people wonder whether they qualify for a single tooth implant, and the answer is often yes. This treatment suits a wide range of patients, and candidacy is usually broader than most expect. Even if you’ve been told before that implants weren’t an option, it may be worth another look.
  • Have a single missing tooth affecting your smile or bite
  • Currently using a bridge or partial denture you'd like to move past
  • Want a permanent replacement that feels natural
  • Have lived with a gap for months or years
  • Are ready to eat and speak without working around a missing tooth
  • Not Sure Where You Stand?

Uncertainty about qualifying is completely normal, and it’s one of the most common questions we hear. A consultation lets us evaluate whether a single tooth implant fits your needs and gives you a clear, personalized recommendation.

Your Single Tooth Implant, Step by Step

Many patients arrive feeling nervous, and they tell us afterward that the process was far smoother than they imagined. Every step is designed around your comfort and peace of mind.
    1

    Consultation and Planning

We start by getting to know your goals and examining the area with 3D imaging and intraoral scanners. These tools create a detailed model of your mouth, so we can map out exactly where your implant will go. You'll see your treatment plan clearly explained, with plenty of room to ask questions and feel confident before anything begins.

    2

    Preparing the Site

If the area needs a little groundwork, such as a bone graft to build a stronger foundation, we handle that first. We keep you comfortable throughout with gentle techniques and clear communication about what's happening. You'll leave this step knowing your jaw is ready to support a lasting result.

    3

    Implant Placement

On placement day, we position the titanium post into your jawbone using the precise plan we mapped earlier. Most patients are surprised by how comfortable this step feels, describing pressure rather than discomfort. Once it's in, the post begins fusing with your bone, creating the stable foundation your new tooth will rest on.

    4

    Healing and Integration

Over the following months, your implant naturally bonds with your jawbone. We check in along the way to make sure everything is progressing smoothly. This healing phase is what gives your single tooth implant its lasting strength, and most patients go about their normal routines with ease during this time.

    5

    Your Custom Crown

Once healing is complete, we place your custom crown, designed to match the shape and shade of your surrounding teeth. You'll walk out with a complete smile that looks, feels, and works like your natural tooth. This is the moment everything comes together.

What Recovery Looks Like After Your Single Tooth Implant

Most patients are surprised by how manageable recovery from a single tooth implant really is. Some healing time is part of the process, and our team is here to support you at every stage.

    First 24 to 48 Hours

You may notice mild swelling or tenderness around the area, which is completely normal. Rest, stick to soft foods, and follow the simple guidance we provide. Most patients find any discomfort easily managed with over-the-counter pain relief and are back to light activities quickly.

    First 1 to 2 Weeks

Any initial swelling continues to fade, and eating gradually becomes more comfortable. You'll ease back toward your regular diet as the area settles. Most patients tell us this stretch is far easier than they expected and feel reassured by how steadily things improve.

    Long-Term Healing

Over the following months, the implant fuses securely with your jawbone beneath the surface. There's little you'll notice day to day during this phase. This quiet healing period is what gives your single tooth implant its strength and lasting stability.

Every patient heals at their own pace, so your experience may look a little different. We’ll give you a personalized aftercare plan with clear instructions, and our team stays just a call away whenever you need us.

    Single Tooth Implant FAQs

Choosing to replace a missing tooth comes with plenty of questions, and that’s exactly how it should be. We’ve gathered the ones we hear most often to help you feel informed and at ease. If anything else is on your mind, we’re always happy to talk it through.

How long does a single tooth implant last?

With proper care, a single tooth implant is designed to last decades. The titanium post fuses permanently with your jawbone, while the crown on top holds up well for many years. Good oral hygiene and regular checkups help protect your investment over the long term.
Most patients are surprised by how comfortable the process is, often describing pressure rather than pain during placement. We use gentle techniques and keep you comfortable throughout. Any tenderness afterward is typically mild and manageable with over-the-counter pain relief for most people.
Because the implant needs time to fuse with your jawbone, the full timeline usually spans several months. That said, much of that time is simply healing, not appointments. We’ll map out your personal timeline during your consultation so you know exactly what to expect.
Yes. Your custom crown is designed to match the shape, size, and shade of your surrounding teeth. Once placed, most people can’t tell which tooth is the implant. The result blends seamlessly into your smile so you can feel confident showing it off.
Leaving a missing tooth can lead to bone loss and shifting of nearby teeth over time. Replacing it early with an implant helps preserve your jawbone and keeps your bite properly aligned. Addressing it sooner also tends to keep treatment simpler.
Many people qualify for a single tooth implant, even some who were told otherwise in the past. Factors like your bone health play a role, which is why a consultation matters. We’ll evaluate your situation and give you a clear, personalized recommendation.
This is more common than you might think, and it’s often solvable. A bone graft can build up the area to create a strong foundation for your implant. We’ll assess this during planning and let you know if it’s part of your treatment.
Caring for an implant is much like caring for a natural tooth. Brush and floss daily, and keep up with your regular dental visits. There’s no special routine to learn, which is one reason many patients appreciate how low-maintenance implants really are.
Not at all, and that’s a real advantage. Unlike some alternatives, a single tooth implant stands on its own without relying on or altering the healthy teeth beside it. Your neighboring teeth stay completely intact and untouched throughout the process.
We believe cost shouldn’t stand between you and a healthy smile. We offer several payment options to help make treatment work for your budget, and we’ll walk you through everything clearly during your visit. Just call us and we’ll be glad to help.
